IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR Director of Maintenance and Operations

JOB SUMMARY To provide students with safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient place in which to learn, play, and develop.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to communicate effectively using written and oral language.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean at all times.
  • Shovels, plows, and/or sands walks, driveways, parking areas, and steps, as appropriate.
  • Checks daily to insure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during the hours of building occupancy.
  • Raises the flag before school on each school day and lowers them at the end of the day.
  • Sweeps classrooms daily and dusts furniture.
  • Cleans corridors after school each day, and during the day when their condition requires it.
  • Scrubs, hoses down, and disinfects toilet floors daily, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
  • Washes all windows on both the inside and outside at least twice each year, and more frequently if necessary.
  • Keeps the grounds free from rubbish.
  • Performs such yard keeping chores as grass cutting, tree trimming, and the like, as necessary, to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.
  • Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.
  • Cleans all chalkboards at least once a week.
  • Makes such minor building repairs as he/she is capable of doing.
  • Reports major repairs needed promptly to the Director of Maintenance and Operations.
  • Reports immediately to the Director of Maintenance and Operations any damage to school property.
  • Remains on the school premises during school hours, and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and his/her attendance is required by the principal or Director of Maintenance and Operations.
  • Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair.
  • Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the principal or Director of Maintenance and Operations.
  • Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to stand and walk for up to two hours at a time. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Ability to kneel, crouch, climb and crawl. Ability to hear, and see clearly. Frequent reaching, pushing and pulling of up to 25 lbs. of exertion. Occasional exposure to noise, vibration, and outdoor temperatures.

  • Includes extremes of temperature and humidity
  • Hazards include stairs, communicable diseases, extreme weather, fumes, noise, hazardous materials.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Twelve month basis with salary, work year and benefits established by the Board.
