ROTATING SHIFTS ~ 24/7 availability a must in a safe manner (rotation of eve, overnight, weekend/weekday, mid day/eve, and daytime). More availability = more hours when expectations are met.
Will begin part-time (temporary replacement while another employee's medical leave) with potential for full-time. May be seeking long-term employees to replace staff furthering their education/careers.
SEASONAL CASUAL to fill in for extended LOA.

Commute time: less than 30 minutes 24/7 a must.

Avalon Gardens is a seniors independent living condominium. We provide support every day of the week, 24 hours daily. There needs to be a First Aid Attendant in the building at all times, so there tends to be frequent call-in opportunities, adding to your scheduled shifts.

TYPES OF SHIFT DUTIES involved:

~ HOUSEKEEPER: Cleaning and sanitizing common areas and/or resident suites (24/7)
~ FIRST AID ATTENDANT: medical issues for our seniors & our staff and cleaning need
~ JANITORIAL: Cleaning & sanitizing of commercial kitchen, and special cleaning assignments.
~ DININGROOM BUSSER: Dining room assistance (serving of beverages, resetting tables, walker valet)
~ RECEPTION PHONE CALLS: Relieving the Receptionist break.
~ ENTERTAINMENT EVENTS: Starting movies in theatre, participation (clapping/dancing/singing) along with residents as per your Supervisor. This fun time puts smiles on the residents.

SHIFT AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
~ AFTERNOON MID SHIFT: Mon-Fri 11:00 am - 7:00 pm ( First Aid Attendant; cleaning suites, sanitizing common area; special cleaning assignments) Sat-Sun 2:00-10:00 pm
~ EVENING SHIFT: 3:15 - 11:15 pm ( First Aid Attendant - 30 min. of Reception phone answering; Dining room assistance (serving of beverages, resetting tables, walker valet)....Then the 1st half of shift MAY fluctuate between sanitizing and other cleaning duties. The 2nd half is Commercial Kitchen cleaning)
~ NIGHT SHIFT: 11:15 pm - 7:15 AM ( First Aid Attendant - 30 min. of Reception phone answering; Dining room assistance (serving of beverages, resetting tables, walker valet)....Then the 1st half of shift MAY fluctuate between sanitizing and other cleaning duties. The 2nd half is Commercial Kitchen cleaning)
~ WEEKEND DAYS: 7:15 am to 3:15 pm (First Aid Attendant; Common area sanitizing and other cleaning duties).
~ WEEKEND AVAILABILITY required for ALL SHIFT TIMES.
~ DAYTIMES (WEEKDAYS): 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (In-suite housekeeping; First Aid Attendant)

~Accepting short-notice CALL-IN SHIFTS awards you an EXTRA BONUS of $1.50/hour on that unscheduled shift.*~ ON-CALL shifts *will be scheduled in advance whenever possible.

~All shifts have extra tasks for shifts where no resident medical support needed.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS (paid by applicant):

~Valid first aid ELIGIBLE CERTIFICATE (OFA level 1 from either St. John's or Red Cross only) can be obtained at a ONE DAY IN-PERSON COURSE

OTHER REQUIREMENTS (paid by employer*COST will be reimbursed on your first pay stub.):

~*Tuberculosis clearance test, (2 appointments at a Travel Clinic: test and clearance visits within past 6 months)
~Written English skills to provide resident wellness & building reports.
~WorkSafe-rated slip-resistant shoes

~*Criminal Record Clearance (IN-PERSON at current neighbourhood RCMP detachment within past 6 months)~Preferred COVID-19 vaccination (3 vaccination minimum). NOTE: A successful completion of a mid-probation and 3-month probation job performance review is required.

TRANSPORTATION TO WORK:
~ Ideally, we are looking for someone who has their own vehicle due to the rotation of shift times.
~ If commuting by BUS, please provide screenshots that transportation for the above noted shifts is available (inc. bus connections) to your residence. This is non-negotiable for working employment.

REGULAR WAGE ($19.00/hr) PLUS SHIFT PREMIUM:
~ Daytime Mon to Fri: REGULAR RATE $19.00 per hour
~ Mon to Fri: Evenings shifts: $1.25 per hour added to Regular Rate
~ Sun to Thurs: Overnight shifts: $1.25 per hour added to Regular Rate
~ Sat & Sun: Daytime shifts: $0.75 per hour added to Regular Rate
~ Sat & Sun: Evenings shifts: $1.75 per hour added to Regular Rate
~ Fri & Sat: Overnight shifts: $1.75 per hour added to Regular Rate (=$20.75/hr)

To qualify for BENEFITS (health & dental): Eligible after successful completion of 3-month probation AND you MUST have a permanent schedule of 24-38 hours every week (not guaranteed.).
