About the Role
Taher, Inc. is a family-owned food service management company delivering excellence in K-12 and institutional dining. At this seminary location, we operate a busy, high-volume kitchen serving three meals a day, seven days a week, with frequent banquets and events. We're seeking experienced cooks who are ready to work hard, move fast, take ownership, and uphold the highest standards of food quality and service.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare daily meals and banquet service in a fast-paced setting
Follow recipes, control portions, and ensure consistent food quality
Maintain high standards of sanitation and safety (HACCP, COVID protocols)
Prep for future shifts and anticipate operational needs
Communicate clearly and professionally with culinary team and leadership
Adapt quickly to changing menus, guest counts, and schedules
Support team morale and foster a culture of hospitality and urgency

Cook (Full-Time & Part-Time)
Location: University of Saint Mary of the Lake Seminary - Mundelein, IL
Pay: $19-$24/hour (based on experience)
Schedules:
Full-Time: No fixed schedule; shifts vary based on unit needs (morning, evening, weekends, holidays)
Part-Time: 11:00 AM - close (~7:30 PM), 2-3 evenings/week
Job Types: Full-Time (37-40 hours/week, benefits-eligible) and Part-Time (15-25 hours/week)
What You Bring
3-5 years of cooking experience in high-volume kitchens
1-2 years of banquet or event experience
IL State Sanitation and BASSET Certification (required)
Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods
Calm under pressure, with strong problem-solving skills
Ability to lead by example and own your station
Bilingual and supervisory experience are a plus
