Under general supervision from the Memorial Union Building Facilities Coordinator, perform a variety of skilled or semi-skilled housekeeping tasks designed to provide and maintain a safe, clean, and healthy living and working environment for the University community.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Perform tasks related to providing a clean and healthy environment in public restrooms, including approved methods of handling and cleaning blood-borne pathogens and other bodily fluids.
Collect and remove all waste material.
Sort recyclable materials, and discard in outdoor collection bins.
Operate and provide operator maintenance for automatic scrubbers, power sweepers (including rider-type), vacuums and buffers used in connection with building cleaning.
Use approved methods to mix cleaning chemicals for application.
Store and dispose of chemicals according to approved guidelines.
Perform tasks related to the cleaning of carpet floor coverings, including spot cleaning and extraction.
Perform tasks related to the maintenance of floors and other surfaces, including vacuuming, mopping, and washing.
Perform tasks related to the renovation of floor surfaces, including application of stripping/finish chemicals, scrubbing, scraping, and buffing.
Respond to housekeeping calls and/or requests for service as needed.
Report on items that require maintenance/repair.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy work with exposure to inclement weather conditions.
Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment as necessary.
Ability to read and communicate in English.
