Overview
The Server is a key member of our hospitality team, responsible for delivering exceptional service across multiple dining outlets, including in-room dining and special event spaces. This role includes taking food orders, running food, and providing prompt, courteous service to all guests. Servers also assist with setting up and breaking down meeting rooms and banquet functions, ensuring every detail is in place for a seamless experience. Maintaining a clean and organized work area, restocking supplies, and upholding brand standards are essential parts of the role.
Responsibilities
General Responsibilities Include:
- Maintain knowledge of menu items and beverage lists
- Upsell food and beverage items
- Listen to, and promptly act to resolve, guest issues and requests
- Achieve maximum customer satisfaction
- Speak with others using clear and professional language
- Taking guest food orders
- Accurately enter orders into the POS system
- Serving guest food in multiple locations
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages when necessary
- Perform cash handling according to written procedures
- Verify food matches the orders on tickets
- Checking food quality and correctness as well as running food
- Must be able to carry heavy equipment for extended periods of time (trays with food)
- Deliver food and beverage to guest rooms in a timely and accurate manner
- Perform side work as necessary
- Set up chairs and tables to meet function specifications
- Clean event space by vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, polishing, wiping areas, and washing walls before and after event
- Maintaining cleanliness of dining room and equipment
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, china, glass, etc., throughout the day
- Complete closing duties, including restocking items, turning off lights, etc.
- Employees must, at all times, be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to all guests, managers, and fellow employees
- Inspect the set-up of meeting and banquet functions, checking them against the Banquet Event Order
- Set-up of assigned catered functions, ensuring that the hotel's standards are met in advance
- Respond to guests needs in a timely manner. Communicate problems/issues to the Food & Beverage Manager
- Assist in service of functions as required
- Assist with the breakdown after the completion of functions to ensure that all equipment and supplies are stored properly
- Follow all state liquor laws
- Monitor ongoing functions throughout assigned shift
- Assist the breakdown and cleanup of all functions assigned
- Verify server's paperwork when event is complete
- Ensure overall guest satisfaction
Skills/Knowledge Required:
- Must possess a positive attitude
- Must be service oriented
- Must be a team player
- Knowledge of the practices within the Food & Beverage/Hospitality profession
- Silverware POS knowledge is a plus
Qualifications
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to walk and stand for up to four (8) hours
- Must be able to walk and stand for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift up to 25lbs on a continuing basis
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch
- Requires grasping, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
Qualification Standards:
Education: High school or equivalent education required. Bachelor's Degree preferred
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of luxury, boutique food & beverage experience in a similar position
Licenses or Certificates: ServSafe Certification and RBS required
Grooming: All colleagues must maintain a neat, and well groomed appearance (specific standards will be provided)
