Job Overview
The Landscape Manager is a senior level position and is responsible for knowledge of soils, plants, irrigations systems and equipment operation.
REPORTS TO: Senior Landscaping Manager
Responsibilities and Duties
- Must have good understanding of all basic horticultural practices including plant identification, soil fertility and fertilizers, planting, pruning, irrigation, insect, and disease identification.
- Care and maintenance of bedding plants, woody ornamentals, turf, interior foliage, and the clean up of public parking lots in our areas.
- Operate all equipment used in grounds maintenance and train employees in their use, general maintenance, and safety.
- Experience with irrigation systems, their operation care and maintenance.
- Ability to manage the day-to-day operation to get maximum efficiency from the workforce in order to provide a safe, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing landscape for the guests and employees.
- Interacts with all guests and all team members in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Maintains regular attendance according to the needs of the property to include some holidays and weekends.
- Maintains high standards of personal appearance and grooming to include wearing a nametag when working.
- Complies with company standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
- Keeps accurate records to include pesticide application logs.
- Reports needs for materials and equipment to manager.
- Maintains inventory of small tools and supplies.
- Maintains the horticultural standards of the company with a sense of urgency and focus with attention to detail in an efficient and productive manner.
- Practices proper horticultural techniques to include planting, watering, weeding, pruning, pest control, dead heading, and plant identifications.
- Operates and instructs others in the operation of all equipment pertaining to their specific job.
- Ensures all equipment is properly maintained.
- Prioritizes daily tasks and weekly projects with direction from department manager
- Trains others in proper horticultural techniques.
- Works with, instructs and supervises volunteers as needed.
- Ability to work with little or no supervision.
- Follow instructions, written or verbal.
- Attend all meetings/training as required by supervisor or manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
- Ability to work well in high-pressure situations while maintaining composure and objectivity including the ability to listen carefully to and resolve issues.
- Ability to work with and understand financial information and data and perform basic math functions.
- Maintains the horticultural standards with a sense of urgency and focus with attention to detail in an efficient and productive manner.
- Ensures all equipment is properly maintained.

Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Training or experience in Horticulture/Landscaping required.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must complete WPS training within 5 days of hire.
Physical Requirements:
- Long hours are sometimes required.
- Potentially hard physical labor, lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects.
- Ability to stand, squat and/or kneel for long periods of time.
- Ability to operate small tools, lawn, and gardening equipment.
Mental Requirements:
- Positively motivate and lead a team, conveying information and ideas clearly and effectively so that ownership of high levels of guest service is understood to be the role of each individual team member.
- Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
