A'BriTin FoodServices is seeking energetic, talented candidates with a strong work ethic for a part-time Cook/Prep./Cashier position at our college partner, M State Moorhead Technical College. This role offers a unique opportunity for growth within our company, with responsibilities including food inventory and ordering, daily kitchen operations, food prep, and catering events. As a Cook/Prep/Cashier at M State Moorhead Technical College, your role will be a combination of kitchen and front-line duties, including preparing delicious meals, handling the cash register, and preparing drinks. You’ll be responsible for studying recipes, setting menus, and ensuring the preparation of high-quality dishes. This includes delegating tasks to kitchen staff to ensure meals are prepared on time while maintaining a clean and organized workspace in accordance with sanitation regulations. Additionally, you'll assist customers at the register, process transactions, and prepare beverages with accuracy and efficiency.

Essential Functions

• Greet customers and guests.
• Give customers drink menus and answer their questions regarding ingredients.
• Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g., preferences of coffee blend, dairy, and sugar ratios)
• Prepare beverages following the recipes
• Serve beverages and prepared food, like cookies, pastries, and muffins
• Assist customers at checkout using Point of Sale device (register).
• Set up the kitchen with cooking utensils and equipment, like knives, pans, and kitchen scales.
• Study each recipe and gather all necessary ingredients.
• Cook food promptly.
• Monitor food stock and place orders.
• Check the freshness of food and discard out-of-date items.
• Experiment with recipes and suggest new ingredients.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure compliance with established policies.
• Maintain trusting relationships with suppliers, customers, and colleagues.
• Perform additional/other duties when needed or as required.

Qualifications

• Experience with food handling (preferred)
• Experience with Point of Sale transactions (preferred)
• Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment (e.g., grills, flat top, stove, oven)(preferred)
• Knowledge of basic culinary, baking, and pastry techniques (preferred)
• Ability to remain calm and undertake various tasks
• Excellent time management abilities.
• Knowledge of safe food handling practices and sanitation regulations (preferred)
• High School Diploma or GED.

Additional Notes:

• Prolonged periods of standing for long periods
• Able to lift and push 50+ pounds

Compensation : $18.00 - $20.00 hourly (DOQ)

Department: Food Services

Job Status: Non-Exempt, Part-Time

Location: Dakota County Technical College - Café (Rosemount, MN)

Schedule: Various shifts and work hours to be performed, including but not limited to during August – May: Monday – Friday, hours between 7:00 AM – 1:00 PM (occasional work/work hours to be performed outside of standard business hours may be required).

Reporting Structure: Chief Operations Officer or another assigned leader.
