Event Coordinator- Hampton Coliseum Arts

The purpose of this class is to coordinate client needs with building staff to ensure proper setup and smooth operation of events. The class works under general supervision according to set procedures.

Are you an experienced Event Coordinator who organizes excellent events? The City of Hampton Coliseum Operations is looking for an Event Coordinator who will be involved in every aspect related to the coordination of an event.

You will be tasked with organizing unforgettable events that will ensure the entertainment of participants and facilitate the completion of operational goals and objectives.

Minimum Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and a minimum of one (1) year of full-time equivalent experience in event management.
  • Requires a minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience and a minimum of one (1) year of administrative experience to include budget preparation and monitoring.
  • Must possess a valid motor vehicle operator's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.
  • This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City's current substance abuse policy.
  • Must successfully pass a background check related to this position before any offer of employment or promotion.

Additional Requirements

  • Receives general supervision from the Deputy Director. Requires considerable independent judgement, responsible decision making, and effective communication with internal and external customers.
  • Requires working non-standard hours, including days, evenings, holidays, and weekends based on scheduled events. Occasionally, you may require working 40+ hours during a standard work week. This position is in the Hampton Coliseum.
  • The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during City emergencies or at the direction of the City Manager, which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
