Custodian/Handyman

School Janitor/Handyman (Plainview)
Educational Childcare Center is looking for a janitor/handyman to join our program.

Start Date: ASAP
Positions:
9:00am-2:00pm

Responsibilities:
Cleans classrooms, rest rooms, hallways, multipurpose room, offices and all interior rooms during the day
Floor care including sweeping, vacuuming & mopping
Daily trash removal and cleaning of all receptacles
Responds to emergency cleanups during the day, such as clogged drains and spills
Performs routine grounds-keeping duties, including picking up litter, weeding, mowing the lawn, leaf blowing etc.
Sets up and arranges furniture as needed
Assists with receiving of packages, parcels and large items
Perform walk through of the facility during the day in order to ensure the building and the outer perimeters are clean and safe; ensure all bathrooms are properly stocked at all times
Perform other related duties as required and assigned
Other duties as required

Qualifications:
Familiarity with the use of maintenance equipment such as including snow blower, sander, power drills, etc.
Knowledge of safe and efficient use of cleaning materials, chemicals, tools and equipment
Ability to work independently
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to maintain simple records
Ability and willingness to meet the physical requirements necessary to perform the required duties, including ability to lift, carry, push, pull and move heavy objects on a regular basis
Maturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and roll-up my sleeves attitude
Willingness to take on additional responsibilities as necessary or as given by the Director
Must have ability to stand for long periods of time, squat/stoop/kneel, reach above the head, reach forward, repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times; and consistently lift up to 30 pounds
2-5 years of custodial experience preferred
High School Graduate Degree
Previous custodian experience, preferably in a school environment
