SUMMARY STATEMENT
The Food Service Worker is responsible for assisting in the overall operation of the Campus Food Services. While completing the various tasks involved, every Food Service employee must provide good customer service and encourage a student friendly atmosphere.

This is a part-time position for 29 hours per week.

MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY AVAILABILITY IS PREFERRED. SOME WEEKENDS REQUIRED. ADVANCED NOTICE WILL BE GIVEN.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
A. The Food Service Worker reports directly to the Food Service Manager and coordinates most closely with the Lead Food Service Worker in carrying out assigned duties and responsibilities.

B. This position shares the responsibility of student aides during operation business hours.

C. The Food Service Worker coordinates most closely with the Lead Food Service Worker in carrying out assigned duties and responsibilities.

D. Direct service to students, staff, faculty, outside organizations, and the general public.

DUTIES
A. Prepares daily breakfast, lunch, and other items and serves them.

B. Cleans the kitchen and serves areas in order to maintain sanitary standards.

C. Washes dishes, pots, and pans after each meal period.

D. Inspects and signs for food deliveries for compliance with quality and quantity, and stores them.

E. Operates cash register and makes deposits at the end of the day. End of day deposit includes counting and balancing register drawers with end-of-day reports, and securing all money in the safe.

F. Assists in the preparation and serving of menus for special College sponsored functions.

G. Assists other employees in the Hilltop Grill or Valley Eatery with any tasks as assigned by the Lead Food Service Worker or Food Service Manager.

H. Responsible for making sure all stock and supplies are locked and secure when business hours are over.

I. At the end of the work week, the closer compiles temperature checklists and gets new worksheets ready for upcoming week.

J. Preps and stocks supplies for next business day.

K. Maintain and update any menu changes as it may relate to the menu boards, registers and web page as need be for both the Valley Eatery and Hilltop Grill.

L. Assist Food Service Manager and/or Lead Food Service Worker in preparing orders for pre-approved customers.

M. Organize and complete seasonal cleaning lists, scheduled for the Hilltop Grill or the Valley Eatery.

N. Assist with food preparation, set-up and clean-up for catered events on campus.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent; knowledge of food storage, preparation, and serving methods; ServSafe Food Protection Certification desirable or ability to obtain same; must be age 18 or older; minimum one year experience working in food service, at a restaurant, school, nursing facility or hospital required.

BARISTA EXPERIENCE IS A PLUS

CASH REGISTER EXPERIENCE IS A PLUS

SERVSAFE CERTIFICATION IS A PLUS

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to communicate effectively; ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships; ability to lift and adequately store all supplies; ability to handle cash and make change; willingness and ability to conduct self in professional manner and to reflect a positive image of the Campus Food Service.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
This position requires light physical effort to include lifting and storing supplies; requires standing during the preparation and serving of food items. Must be able to work flexible hours, including occasional weekend hours.
