Starting Pay $12/hr. Schedule Monday - Friday.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Floor care/Janitorial personnel are directly responsible for the vacuuming, mopping, stripping, waxing, extraction of facilities floors; carpeted and non-carpeted. Keeping carpets and floors clean and sanitary at all times in accordance with department and facility standards and practices, as well as performing other duties as assigned such as: Window cleaning, room cleaning, and other janitorial duties as assigned.

- Perform floor care duties including but not exclusive to:
Follow established policies and procedures of the floor care department.
Vacuuming of hallways and common areas.
Mopping of linoleum and vinyl flooring throughout the building
Extracting carpets in all building including resident's rooms.
Stripping and waxing floors as assigned.
- Perform Porter duties including but not exclusive to:
Window cleaning
General housekeeping
Cleaning equipment
Cleaning and maintaining some exterior areas
- Will comply with safety procedures and wear protective equipment:
Wear gloves
Use safety precautions when using chemicals
Do not mix chemicals
Proper disposal of soiled water/chemicals
Safety precautions while using equipment
Clearly display wet floor signs as needed
OTHER DUTIES:
- Proper use of floor care equipment
- Proper use of floor chemicals
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Attend mandatory in-services and department meetings
- Obey all safety rules and procedures
- Be courteous and polite at all times
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to work independently and as a team.
- Must have good oral and verbal communication skills and have the ability to understand and follow instructions in English and communicate effectively.
- Must be able to appropriately prioritize and organize multiple tasks and projects.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully and pleasantly with residents, families, staff, community resources, visitors and the general public.
- Must be highly customer service oriented and dedicated to providing superior hospitality and service at all times.
- Must be able to project cheerfulness and enthusiasm, maintain a positive attitude and work as a productive member of the Village health center.
- Must maintain a professional appearance in compliance with facility personal appearance guidelines.
- Must be able to read instructions, safety rules, manuals and resident rosters in English.
- Must recognize multiple resident needs and prioritized actions to meet those needs, including emergency situations.
- Must follow guidelines and policies as outlined in employee policies and procedures handbook.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Stands, bends, lifts and moves throughout the facility and local community during workday.
- Must be able to lift and transfer up to fifty pounds.
- Subject to exposure to infectious waste and disease (HBV and HIV)
- Must be able to push vacuums, extraction machines, mop buckets throughout facility. Must be able to push/pull up to 90 pounds.
- Subject to exposure to chemicals. Please read MSDS book for detailed description of chemical use.
- Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, involved instructions.
- Must be able to perform duties under stress when confronted with emergency, critical unusual or dangerous situations or when working speed and sustained attention are critical aspects of this job.
- Able and willing to utilize provided safety equipment and comply with expectations.
