Primary Purpose
The Student Dining Attendant/Dishwasher plays a vital role in ensuring a clean, organized, and welcoming dining experience for students, staff, and visitors at Southwestern Oregon Community College. This position is primarily responsible for maintaining the dining area, washing dishes, sanitizing kitchenware, and assisting with general cleanliness to support smooth dining operations. Additionally, this role includes restocking essential items, and providing friendly assistance to guests as needed.
As a key member of the Dining Services team, the Student Dining Attendant/Dishwasher helps foster a safe, efficient, and community-oriented environment while gaining valuable hands-on experience in food service, teamwork, and sanitation practices. This position is ideal for students looking to develop strong work ethic, multitasking abilities, and customer service skills in a supportive and flexible on-campus job.
Description of Essential Functions
Dishwashing and Dining Support (100% of Time)
Wash dishes as needed to restock all dishes, glassware, utensils, pots and pans; remove all dishes and garbage from depository racks keeping all dish and storage areas clean and organized.
Operate dish machines using proper measurements of detergent and sanitizer in order to meet company and manufacturer specifications.
Restock all dishes, glassware, utensils, pots and pans.
Remove all dishes, trays and garbage from depository racks keeping all dish and storage areas clean and organized. Includes maintaining dish racks in the dish pit area and keeping all garbage cans clean.
Fills and wipes off condiment containers. Restocks napkin and eating utensils.
Wipes down dining tables and chairs. Keeps dining and service areas clean during and between service times. Sweeps and mops dining hall.
Cleans and sanitizes equipment, utensils, appliances, work surfaces, serving and storage areas to comply with health and sanitation regulations. Maintains work areas in an acceptable safe and sanitary condition.
Complete basic cleaning tasks of the dining hall, such as sweeping, mopping, taking out trash, and maintaining a tidy dining space.
Performs Other Duties and Special Projects as required/assigned.
