Kitchen Team Member Job Description

Our kitchen is looking for a skilled kitchen staff member to join our existing team. You will be tasked with doing your part to help our unique restaurant operate as efficiently and effectively as possible. This will require you to be adaptable and willing to do a little bit of everything that our kitchen needs to do its best work. At times, this may include catering offsite.

For example, this job includes assisting with food preparation, cleaning the kitchen, washing dishes, preparing sides, sauces, BBQ meats, and more, taking customer orders at the window, catering events offsite, and other duties as assigned. To find success in this role, you will need to be adaptable, hard-working, and willing to take direction from established team members and management. You should also be comfortable with managing competing priorities in a fast-paced restaurant setting.

Kitchen Team Member Responsibilities

Clean and sanitize dishes, cookware, utensils, and workstations
Assist in the food preparation process by cutting, chopping, slicing, trimming, and washing vegetables, meats, and other ingredients
Smoking meats and cleaning smokers of ash and grease
Scratch cooking and baking (sides, sauces, rubs, meats, cornbread, desserts, etc.)
Follow all food health and safety requirements
Assist with the unloading of deliveries and their proper storage
Communicate kitchen needs to supervisors
Interact with customers as needed
Maintaining a clean work environment
Following checklists
Cleaning when caught up with everything else
Catering prep and service
Cash handling
Other duties as assigned

Kitchen Team Member Requirements

Previous experience in a restaurant cooking and following scratch recipes
Physical ability to stand for an entire shift and lift 50+ pounds
Physical ability to stand for long periods of time, bend, reach high and low, and crouch.
Willingness to work weekends and nights (Sundays are a must)
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Strong attention to detail and dedication to quality a must
Existing knowledge of food safety procedures
Knowledge of POS system preferred or willingness to learn
Ability to work both as a team and individually
Be able to take instruction from established team members and management
Certifications

Have or the ability to obtain an Oregon Food Handlers Certificate

References

Include at least two professional references that are not friends or family.
