Job Summary: The primary responsibility of the Sous Chef position is to prepare and cook various dishes to the
quality standards established by management. The Sous Chef will report to the Executive Chef.
Job Requirements:
* Manage the team (schedule/disciplinary actions/ordering) in cooperation with and in the absence of the Executive Chef
* Set an example in tone, work ethic and attitude
* Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line cook, restaurant cook or prep cook
* Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
* Accuracy and speed in executing tasks
* Works in a stressful and fast paced environment while maintaining professional and calm demeanor
* Excellent problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills; active listener
* Strong teamwork attitude, work ethic and willingness to take initiative
* Excellent time-management skills and the ability to prioritize several tasks
* Maintain excellent personal hygiene and physical appearance
* Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays
* Maintain current Food Handler certification
* Remain vigilant on Health Department's requirements for Food Service Industry, including state COVID-19 guidelines
* Position spends extended period of time on your feet and periodically moves up to 50lbs.
Job Duties include, but are not limited to:
* Cooking menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff
* Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, at a high quality and in a timely fashion
* Maintain professional communication with co-workers and customers
* Cooking and preparing all menu items in accordance with the standards set by the Chef
* Stocking and maintaining sufficient levels of product on the line
* Food preparation and portioning prior to service
* Ensure management's preparation requirements, recipes and production schedules are being followed
* Label all prepped ingredients in compliance with Health Department regulations
* Maintain organization of all food storage areas as designated by management
* Ensure prep list, waste sheet and order list is completed, as necessary
* Fill in where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations are upheld
* Maintain a clean and orderly kitchen by washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, taking out the trash, etc.
* Be on-time and prepared to work for every shift before clocking in
* Perform other duties as requested by management
Hours: 30 - 40 hours per week
Pay: $20 - $25 per hour
