Bastia is a Sardinian and Corsican restaurant in the Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia. We are located in the beautiful Hotel Anna & Bel, which is a 50-room hotel in the historic former Penn Home. Both the hotel and restaurant opened in August, 2024. We butcher whole animals, make bread in-house, have an extensive handmade pasta program, and maintain close relationships with farmers in the region.
The restaurant has opened to wide acclaim, having been listed as one of the Best New Restaurants in America by Esquire Magazine and as the #1 restaurant in Philly by Philadelphia Magazine.
We are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards for guest experience and culinary excellence and are aiming to develop the next generation of ambitious cooks and chefs.
The Role
The Lead Line Cook is in charge of preparing their station with assistance from our prep team, maintaining a clean work environment and executing their station with excellence. This position focuses on grill and entremet roles, with an ability to manage tickets, contribute to an inside expo function, and cook proteins consistently and in an organized manner. This integral position plays a key role in the heart of the house in safely preparing delicious food, with a focus on dinner service and a PM-oriented schedule.
Responsibilities
- In charge of setting up and breaking down their station daily.
- Assisting with stocking, labeling, dating, ordering, receiving and following proper food safety procedures.
- Preparing food including: cleaning and cutting the ingredients and cooking hot apps and entrees.
- Plating prepared foods based on the chefs' guidance.
- Working with servers to ensure that orders are completed according to requests on time and in full.
- Washing and cleaning the kitchen and cooking utensils and storing the equipment at the end of each shift.
- Ensuring that the kitchen operation procedures and hygiene meet food safety standards and regulations.
- Checking food prep and storage areas to ensure they dont violate any health codes or safety regulations.

Requirements & Experience
- Knowledge of cooking techniques.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand, up to 8 hours per shift.
- Flexible in schedule and willing to meet the demands of a complex operation.
- Time management skills.
- Willingness to comply with all food safety procedures.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations.
