Description

JOB OVERVIEW

The food runner is a restaurant position whose responsibilities include, but are not limited to, communicating with guests, supporting both servers and kitchen staff, and performing other tasks as necessary when directed by the management staff.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

All Restaurants and Kitchen area.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Serve as a liaison between the front of house and back of house helping both teams work effectively.

Communicate with the cooks and servers to identify what items on the line are ready to go out to guests.

Present prepared food to guests by manually carrying dishes from the kitchen to the correct tables, maintaining the presentation as the chef intended, and ensuring all appropriate items are delivered with the items.

Resolve any issues with the food upon delivery by communicating with the culinary staff/table server/supervisor as appropriate.

Maintain Forbes Travel Guide and AAA Four Diamond Service standards while interacting with guests.

Contribute to overall resort team effort by completing additional duties as assigned.

The guest is always asked permission before being placed on hold.

No telephone hold longer than 30 seconds without offering call-back.

Staff acknowledges the guest when appropriate and reasonably possible.

Staff is polite and maintains a gracious tone and appropriate pace throughout the interaction.

The guest's name is used naturally as a signal of recognition.

Staff closes interactions with polite, appropriate remarks.

All staff encountered are extremely well-groomed.

Staff maintains alert posture and behaves professionally in view of the guest.

Staff does not decline any request without offering appropriate alternatives.

The service is handled without excessive delays or interruptions.

FOUR DIAMOND SERVICE EXPECTATIONS

All associates exhibit a professional vocabulary that is devoid of common slang.

Guests are graciously escorted to areas when directions are requested.

There is evidence that all associates are empowered by management to resolve guest issues immediately.

All associates are properly attired; nametags are clearly visible.

All associates demonstrate appropriate behavior and hygiene at all times.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

Ability to work well under pressure, be professional, efficient, detail-oriented, and courteous.

Solid communication skills.

Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays as necessary.

Task-driven individual.

Desirable:

Experience in full service restaurant

Experience in Forbes Rated or 4 Diamond restaurant environment.

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

All team members must learn and comply with all Resort safety rules; must use appropriate safety equipment at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features or equipment, machinery or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisor if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function.
