This is a recruitment for SUBSTITUTE (hourly) custodians to cover short and long term absences. Applicants who are successful in the recruitment will be contacted by the Maintenance Department for assignments. Applicants will undergo screening for minimum qualifications (including education level and some type of experience performing janitorial duties), followed by a written examination to assess applicants' understanding of concepts and theories related to janitorial duties. In addition, candidates selected for placement must successfully pass a background and physical check, administered by the Department of Human Resources.

Education: Completion of formal secondary education (high school diploma or GED) sufficient to possess the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities established for the position. Experience: Six months of custodian experience in a school or business setting is required. SPECIAL LICENSE OR LANGUAGE SKILLS A valid Class C California Driver's License and demonstration of insurability at standards rates, or an alternative means of transportation, may be required for some positions in this classification. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Employees must be physically and mentally able to perform the essential duties of a position with or without reasonable accommodation and without hazard to themselves or others. Shall be required to move and/or lift materials and equipment up to fifty (50) pounds.
