The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency (MLGCA) serves as one of the largest revenue sources for the State of Maryland, supporting important state programs and services including education, public health and safety, human resources and the environment. In addition to generating revenue from the sale of lottery products, the MLGCA is also responsible for the oversight of the state's casino gaming program, providing direction and guidance to its casino partners on financial, security, regulatory and licensing procedures for the facilities. The Agency also regulates Sports Wagering, Daily Fantasy Sports and Electronic Bingo, as well as Instant Ticket Lottery Machines, which are located at almost 90 Veteran's posts. POSITION DUTIES
The Administrative Specialist II is responsible for providing administrative support and customer assistance while\nstaffing the Maryland Lottery and Gaming's front desk. This includes, but is not limited to, answering phone calls,\ngreeting guests and responding to inquiries from the public. This individual will represent the Lottery at events\nthroughout the state. This position will also assist the Communications Division's Budget, Procurement and\nInventory Officer.\n\n\nCommunications Division Support\n\n\n\n Assists with front desk dutiesincluding answering incoming calls, greeting guests, and providing\n information in a professional manner.\n Updates spreadsheets with data collected following events.\n Responds to inquiriesfrom the public by gathering general Maryland Lottery and Gaming information,\n drawings game winning numbers, product and promotion details.\n Works Lottery Events:occasionally serving as a Lottery ambassador at events throughout the state\n along with other Communications team members to talk with the public, answer questions, assist with\n set-up and break-down and other on-site activities as needed.\n Attendsdepartmental and agency meetings as needed.\n Completes other dutiesand special assignments as needed.\n Help plan and preparefor internal and agency wide activities.\n \n\n\n\nProcurement and Inventory\n\nAssists and serves as back-up to the Communications Division's Budget, Procurement and Inventory Officerto\nensure that the Division is able to:\n\n\n Procure, track and evaluate expenditures on a continual basis. This includes: maintaining\n spreadsheets to track thousands of promotional items for statewide distribution.\n Assist withmonthly budget status reports, procurement and inventory data, procurement requests\n and tracking expenditures for commodities and services.\n \n\n\nPerforms other related duties.\n
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.\nExperience: One year of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.\nNotes:\n1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.\n2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\n
