The Engineering & Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining the City's public assets, including infrastructure, right of way, parks, facilities and the Citys vehicle and equipment fleet. The Engineering Division oversees the Citys Capital Improvement Program (CIP), Storm Water & Environmental Compliance, Traffic Safety, and Engineering Permits, Plan Checks and Inspections for private development. The Public Works operations team provides essential services for the community through its four Divisions: Streets & Wastewater Maintenance, Parks Maintenance, Facilities Maintenance, and Fleet & Equipment Maintenance.
THE POSITION:Works independently at assigned buildings, facilities, or group of buildings; maintains space clean and orderly; prepares rooms for meetings; and performs related duties as required. Position reports to the Supervising Custodian.
ALTERNATIVE WORK SCHEDULE:
City employees work a 4/10 workweek, Monday through Thursday, or Tuesday through Friday. Custodian work schedules vary depending on the facility assigned, but generally start between the hours of 6am and 8am, and end between 4:30pm and 6:30pm. Occasionally, Custodians may be assigned to support events in the evenings or weekends, when needed. City offices are closed on Fridays. City facilities will also close for a period of approximately two weeks in December with time off for non-essential personnel

- Turns out lights and locks doors and windows.
- Performs minor building and related equipment maintenance repair work.

EXPERIENCE :
- Demonstrated commercial experience in the custodial care of buildings and facilities; and the ability to read and write in English at a level necessary for successful job performance.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT :
- Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License is required at the time of appointment.
- License must be maintained during the entire term of employment in this job classification.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS IN : Methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work.
ABILITY TO : Operate and maintain mechanical and power custodial equipment; work without direct supervision and maintain schedules for performing assigned tasks; understand the English language well enough to follow oral and written instructions; work cooperatively with others.
