MAINTENANCE WORKER

Preferred Qualifications:
- Is at least 21 years of age and meets the requirements of good physical health and can do moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Possesses a high school diploma or GED certificate
- Possesses two years of experience in building and ground maintenance, including some carpentry, masonry, plumbing HVAC, and electrical systems
- Possesses the ability to climb ladders, stand for extended periods of time, push or pull objects, walk, reach(above shoulders, overhead, and horizontally), and operate and repair equipment and tools while being subject to environmental conditions, hazards, atmospheric conditions, noise, chemicals, and furnace and boiler by-products.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Installs, repairs, and maintains furniture, boilers, machinery, plumbing, physical structures, electrical wiring and fixtures of school buildings in accordance with blueprints, manuals, and building codes, using hand tools and carpenter, electrician, and plumber tools.
- Inspects machinery and mechanical equipment for defects.
- Performs remodeling of building interiors.
- Performs grounds keeping task as needed.
- Paints walls and floors, woodwork and fixtures, and makes repairs to windows, doors, furniture, recreation equipment, and other equipment.
- Constructs and repairs partitions and other wooden structures using saws, braces, bits, and other carpenter tools.
- Replaces and repairs brick and plaster walls, using appropriate tools.
- Operates gas – or ARC – welding equipment to join metal parts used to repair or fabricate equipment.
- Drives a school bus, if needed.
- On-call 24 hours each day.
- Performs related tasks as assigned by immediate supervisor.
Terms of employment: 12 months per year
