TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full Time Bargaining Unit Position - 12-Month Work Year

COMPENSATION: In accordance with the PESPA Collective Bargaining Agreement
PRINCIPAL FUNCTION: To perform services as an integral member of a custodial team of workers charged with ensuring that the environment is kept in a safe, sanitary and well-ordered manner for all employees, students and visitors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up for special events in the various facilities of the District or on District fields or grounds.
- Remove snow and ice from District sidewalks and parking areas.
- Distribute/deliver teacher supplies as requested.
- Respond to any school emergency within the scope of the Custodian’s ability and report any and all problems to the Facility Manager.
- Vacuum, dust, mop, scrub, sweep, remove trash and disinfect the building per the established procedures and directives of the Facility Manager and Custodial Supervisor.
- Clean and sanitize restroom walls, floors, mirrors and fixtures. Refill soap and paper product dispensers.
- Clean windows, dust lockers and blinds, and buff floors when directed.
- Clean building areas pursuant to the Building Cleaning Schedule or perform the assigned designated task pursuant to a “Team Cleaning” method if applicable.
- Assist visitors to the building after school hours and in the absence of any other school district personnel.
- Ensure the security of the building by checking and locking, where applicable, all doors and windows.
- This position is second shift when school is in session and may become first shift when school is not in session (holidays and summer).
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Facility Manager, Building Principal and/or Custodial Supervisor.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (“GED”).
- Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License and a good driving record.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUISITE SKILLS:
- Knowledgeable of safety regulations and Right-to-Know laws as well as procedures for working with asbestos-containing materials in schools.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions.
- Ability and willingness to follow written and verbal directions.
- Ability to exercise good judgment in prioritizing tasks and to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently and to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work in varied and extreme temperatures.
- Any additional or alternative qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Board of School Directors.

VERY HEAVY WORK : The incumbent should be able to exert in excess of 100 lbs of force occasionally, and in excess of 50 lbs of force frequently, and in excess of 20 lbs of force constantly to move objects.
