Job Duties

Applies appropriate skills, cleaning techniques, procedures and effective use of equipment and products to a wide range of surfaces, while engaged in stripping and refinishing floors, burnishing and buffing floors, shampooing carpets and upholstery; in addition to sweeping, dust mopping, damp/wet mopping, dusting, polishing, scrubbing, vacuuming and waste removal. Replenishment of supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, hand soaps, deodorants, cleans up of body fluids and body waste.

Assignments may include working off 6 foot ladders and the use of simple hand tools while exchanging window drapes, curtains, venetian blinds, cubical curtains, shower curtains, and washing glass, walls, and ceiling vents.

Incumbent considered a subject matter expert on all Housekeeping activities and provides training and oversight to all employees and new hires.

Keeps assigned storage and housekeeping cart clean and organized. Equipment utilized is cleaned after each use, and properly stored. Equipment malfunctions and repair needs are brought to Supervisors' attention.

Performs all functions of job by adhering to department and facility policies and procedures. Provides leadership on the 3pm-11pm shift in the absence of the shift supervisor and regularly on Saturdays and Sundays.

Maintains records/reports/data associated with detail cleaning, discharge/terminal cleaning and periodic cleaning requirements, key log, equipment log, PM rounds as well as Tardy/Absence reports.

Performs other duties as may be assigned that are within Environmental Services' mission and as situations warrant in meeting the overall needs of the facility.

May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge and experience in the use of floor equipment such as auto-scrubber, buffer, vacuum, carpet extractor and other basic housekeeping equipment. Knowledge of OSHA and SDS a plus. High School Diploma preferred. Previous lead or supervisor experience in Housekeeping Services a plus.
