Position Overview:
Lincoln County Schools is seeking Non-Congregate Meal Program Cooks to oversee the distribution and compliance of multi-day meal service operations under the USDA Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) guidelines. This role ensures that meals are safely prepared, distributed only to eligible children or their parents/guardians, and that all program integrity and food safety standards are met.
Requirements:
Applicants must have passed the West Virginia State Cook Testing and Certification Requirements or currently hold (or have previously held) a Cook Classification.
Applicants must be current employees of Lincoln County Schools.

Hourly Rate: $20.00
Work Schedule:
5 hours per day (12:30 PM - 4:30 PM)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement the distribution and compliance of multi-day meal service operations under the USDA Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) guidelines.
- Ensure that meals are safely prepared, distributed only to eligible children or their parents/guardians, and that all program integrity and food safety standards are met.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:
- Must have obtained a High School diploma or GED
- Successful passage of the State Competency Test for Cooks or holds or has held the classification as a cook. Any combination of training and experience which would lead to successful employment as a cook, such as:
- Knowledge of menu preparation
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment
- Ability to properly supervise and properly clean kitchen area
- Ability in inventory and record keeping
- Obtain a food handler's card
- Ability to supervise and prepare large quantities of food producing a quality product
FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
- Supervises, assigns and instructs kitchen personnel in the safe, proper and efficient use of all kitchen equipment.
- Maintains the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen. (Including trash and garbage collection in a sanitary fashion).
JOB DESCRIPTION
Operate the designated non-congregate meal pick-up site.
Ensure meals are distributed only to eligible children or their parents/guardians at the designated sites and times.
Implement and maintain systems to prevent duplicate meal distribution.
Maintain rosters/sign-in sheets to track meal distribution.
Distribute 7 calendar days' worth of meals.
Ensure food preparation and storage facilities meet all State and local health, safety, and sanitation regulations (7 CFR 225.16(b)(5)).
Monitor food temperatures and maintain required logs:
Food must be held at safe temperatures during storage, transport, and distribution.
Ensure a menu is distributed with each meal box identifying portion sizes and items that constitute a reimbursable meal, along with clear storage instructions.
Ensure all Civil Rights compliance requirements are met, including:
Properly displaying the "And Justice for All" poster at each site.
Including the USDA Nondiscrimination Statement with each meal package.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Child Nutrition.
