This position requires a patient, relentlessly positive, friendly, energetic, and approachable individual who is passionate about creating experiences through the support and facilitation of daily programming centered around monthly themes such as building with logos, cardboard instruments, or creating DIY stuffed animals. The guest services host in the play lab must be comfortable and competent interacting with guests from a variety of diverse backgrounds and committed to understanding and fulfilling, sometimes very creatively, their needs to the maximum extent possible. This is a full-time position with a regular schedule of 37.5 hours (5- 7.5 hour shifts)/ week. Responsibilities include: Maintain an overall awareness and knowledge of the museum's mission, history, programs, and special events as they affect museum visitation, and effectively communicate this information to guests when asked. Ability to communicate and collaborate with the public programs team to understand and implement the daily, weekly and monthly programming in the play lab and communicate this information to guest services colleagues also working in this space. Effectively handle guests' needs, questions, and expectations in a manner consistent with museum service goals. Resolve guest complaints quickly and effectively utilizing service recovery techniques. Use initiative and enthusiasm to create exceptional guest experiences. Ensure that the play lab is kept clean, neat and fully-stocked with supplies. Be willing to constantly clean up activities like "messy play" with a smile! Minimum Qualifications: Open availability to work any day of the week including the willingness to work Fridays and Saturdays until 8 p.m. as well as holidays. High school diploma, GED, or CDOS. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively in a team environment. Comfort and ability to safely and effectively use maker-space equipment such as looms, saws and Oculus and support guests in doing the same. Prior guest services experience in a fast-paced entertainment venue is a plus. Prior experience in crafting, including teaching skills to others, is a plus.
