DEFINITION: As assigned, performs duties as directed inand around the apartment complex or housing project, cleaning buildings,fixtures and performing ground care. EXAMPLES OF WORK: Inside thebuilding: Clean windows, vacuum carpets, dust furniture, clean bathroomsin its entirety, clean laundry room floors and appliances, clean walls,maintenance areas, stair towers, storage areas; use trash compactor,move furniture and equipment; distribute supplies, etc.; and assistBuilding Superintendent in all cleaning functions. Use various cleaningtools and supplies to perform a wide variety of cleaning functions.Receives, carries, stores, retrieves supplies, equipment records andobjects. Assist in making vacant apartments ready for leasing, asassigned. Outside the building: Perform general lawn clean-up, cleanoutside office and entryway windows and doors, shovel snow, pick uptrash, clean mechanical equipment rooms, discard trash as appropriate,and assist Building Superintendent in all general maintenance functions,as assigned. All other duties pertaining to position as assigned bySuperintendent and/or as scheduled. REQUIREMENTS: 1. Ability to read,write speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties ofthis position. 2. Knowledge of the standard tools, materials, methodsand practices and of the occupational hazards and safety precautions ofthe work being performed. 3. Ability to understand, remember, and carryout oral and written directions, to learn quickly from oral and writtenexplanations and from demonstrations, to take needed safety precautionsin performing the work, and to take care of tools, equipment, materialsand supplies. 4. Ability to work harmoniously with superiors, coworkers,clients, tenants, applicants, landlords, contractors and all others withwhom one comes in contact with while performing the duties of thisposition. 5. Willingness to use or learn to use basic hand and powertools with proficiency. 6. Willingness to assume other responsibilitiesof a similar nature as assigned. 7. Maintain a consistent record oftimely attendance on the job. 8. Be of good health and freedom fromdisabling physical and mental defects which would impair the properperformance of the required duties or which might endanger the health orsafety of oneself or others.
