Job Description

Under designated supervision, performs a variety of functions relating to at least three of the following trades: carpentry, painting, plumbing, air conditioning, or electrical work.

Does electrical work to include installing outlets, power supplies, etc. repairs and/or modifies air conditioning systems/units.

May construct and repair items such as scaffolds, bins, pallets, concrete forms, dry walls, sheathing, roof decking, etc.

May prepare surfaces and paint, stain, or protective finishes to equipment, fixtures, furnishings, and various types of building surfaces using standard coating methods such as spray gun, brush, and roller. Hangs wallpaper; mixes or blends paints and pigments. Paints signs free hand or by stencil.

May install and repair water, sewer, and gas fixtures and facilities such as hydrants, water mains, water closets, lavatories, showers, sinks, etc. Cuts, bends, and fits steel, plastic, copper, lead, cast iron, and tile pipes. Installs fittings, pipes, and fixtures in accordance with local regulations and codes.

Operates a variety of hand and power tools used in the carpentry, painting, plumbing, and/or air conditioning and electrical trades.

May prepare material and labor cost estimates and develop list of material required forpletion of a job or the installation and maintenance of equipment or system.

May be required to perform other types of maintenance and/or new construction functions requiring a level of skill and responsibility characteristic of work at the same or a lower grade level. May operate a motor vehicle to pick up material and/or parts toplete assigned projects.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Complies with applicable directives, policies and procedures. Actively supports and implements applicable EEO laws and programs within the Exchange. Assumes other related responsibilities as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Completion of high school or the equivalent with emphasis in mechanical arts or trade school education andpletion of general maintenance work apprenticeship. Creditable job-related experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a nine months for nine months basis. Four years of progressively responsible work in performing general maintenance work. Must be qualified in the use of various hand and power trade tools.

If a sufficient number of qualified candidates do not , the minimum qualifications may be lowered without reposting.

MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK MONDAY-FRIDAY FROM 0630-1500, TO INCLUDE SOME WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS.SCHEDULE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITH PROPER NOTICE DUE TO OPERATIONAL NEEDS.THIS POSITION COMES WITH BENEFITS: MEDICAL, DENTAL, BASIC LIFE INSURANCE/PERSONAL ACCIDENT INSURANCE,ANNUAL LEAVE, SICK LEAVE, 401K AND RETIREMENT.
