Bar56 is looking for an experienced Full Time Server / Sommelier to join our team. Located in the historic Empire Stores in DUMBO, we offer an intimate, high-touch experience centered around exceptional wine and hospitality.

As a Server / Sommelier at Bar56, youll be the face of our restaurant, guiding guests through our curated selection of wines and small plates while delivering warm, knowledgeable, and attentive service. Furthermore, you'll be responsible for the day to day operations of the wine program. You should be passionate about hospitality, comfortable with tableside interactions, and eager to share your enthusiasm for wine. You should furthermore have a working knowledge of wines, with a focus on classic new and old world regions.

• Provide an elevated yet approachable dining experience
• Guide guests through our menu, making thoughtful recommendations
• Work closely with the bar and kitchen to ensure seamless service
• Manage tables efficiently, balancing attentiveness with a relaxed atmosphere
• Maintain a clean and organized service area
• Handle transactions with accuracy and professionalism

• Experience: At least 3 years in a high-volume or wine-focused hospitality setting
• Wine Knowledge: A strong foundation in wine, or a willingness to learn quickly
• Personality: Warm, engaging, and confidentable to connect with guests and create memorable experiences
• Work Ethic: Reliable, team-oriented, and proactive in problem-solving
• Availability: Must be able to work weekend doubles.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Must have 3 years + experience in a fast paced NYC restaurant as a Server or Sommelier
Must be able to lift & a carry at least 50 pounds
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Must be comfortable with repetitive motions (such as walking, bending & standing)
Must be knowledgeable of Industry critics & awards
Must have full schedule availability including lunches and Sundays
Must be able to take constructive criticisms and work well in a team dynamic

Compensation: Hourly ($11.00) plus tips
