Parks Maintenance Worker Sr.

This position is designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

JOB OBJECTIVE: To operate grounds maintenance equipment and perform maintenance activities at Parks and Recreation Department facilities.

1. Operates hand and tractor-mounted mowers and hand-held string trimmers to cut grass in areas around Department facilities; performs minor preventive maintenance on tractors and mowers; sharpens and replaces blades on mowers
2. Operates chain saw to cut trees and brush &
3. Mixes and applies non-restricted use chemical agents, including fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, and pesticides.
4. Cleans rest rooms and picks up debris
5. Repairs and paints park benches and trash barrels; performs minor building and plumbing maintenance
6. Operates light earth-moving equipment, including small backhoe, Bobcat, and front-end loader, as required for maintenance and development projects
7. Operates light and medium duty trucks with trailers to transport equipment, materials, and supplies to work sites, Department facilities, and dumping areas
8. Provides working supervision to Parks Maintenance Workers and part-time employees
9. Operates garbage truck to pick up trash and haul to City landfill
10. Reports Department facility equipment and buildings needing repair to the supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through the completion of eighth (8th) grade, one (1) year of experience in landscaping, golf course or grounds maintenance, and one (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS :

• Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position and must possess a valid Arkansas Class B (Commercial Vehicle) Driver's License within ninety (90) days of employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
