Elementary Custodian

Seeking a dedicated individual to perform general cleaning and maintenance duties at our 2nd-4th grade elementary school. Responsibilities include cleaning classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and assisting with the overall upkeep of the school facility.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

High school diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to read basic operating instructions.

Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with supervisor and others.

Ability to perform any physical duties associated with this position (e.g., lifting objects on a regular basis, walking, standing for an extended period, etc).

Experience:

No experience is required but experience in general clearing and maintenance of buildings and grounds is encouraged.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Cleaning and Maintenance

• Follow the cleaning schedule in order to keep buildings and grounds clean, safe, and sanitary.
• Oversee inventories of cleaning supplies and equipment
• Participate in general cleaning and maintenance of the school building such as dust furniture and sweep and vacuum classrooms; scrub and disinfect toilets and floors, use appropriate chemicals for cleaning, clean hallways; clear and disinfect drinking fountains.
• Load and unload equipment, furniture and supplies as needed.
• Clean and sanitize building and facilities using appropriate chemicals to meet district safety guidelines.
• Maintain cleanliness of school grounds (pick up debris).
• Perform any and all duties as assigned by the Dean of Students or Facilities Director

Communication

• Report, on a timely basis, maintenance and repairs of buildings when needed.
• Report on a timely basis, cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Inform Dean of Students of the inability to report to work in a timely manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None

Working Conditions:

Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, lifting and pushing.
