We are hiring! Looking for an awesome barista who loves people and thrives in a fast paced cafe.

We are a small, independently owned Coffee House & Bakery located in NW Portland since 2005. We are proudly un-fancy, easy going, and believe in making lasting positive impressions on our customers' lives. We are looking for people who bring creativity, kindness, humor, and hard work to support our team in whatever way that presents itself.

Schedule/ Availability Requests:

This position will be scheduled 4-5 shifts (26-32 hours) per week. Shifts are typically 6 - 7 hours long. We will discuss this in greater detail depending on your need, interest, and strengths.

Availability to work both Saturday and Sunday is a must. And general schedule flexibility is highly preferred.

Be open to working all shifts: Shifts can begin as early as 5:30am, and end as late as 8pm.

Qualifications and Skills:

Must love connecting with people through excellent customer service

Ability to maintain calm and focus in a high-volume, noisy, and busy environment while multitasking quickly and efficiently

Current OLCC certification (The Dragonfly Coffee House is an alcohol-serving establishment), or ability to obtain temporary permit by 1st scheduled shift

Maintain current food handlers card, or acquire one by 1st scheduled shift

Ability to read, write, and speak English

Basic math skills required

Great tips! While it fluctuates a few dollars per hour, the average is around $12/ hr!

Physical requirements include but are not limited to:

This position works in a building containing a bakery w you will be consistently exposed to wheat flour, gluten, and other grain dusts typically found in a bakery.

This position is required to stand for 100% of the shift (6-8 hours), not counting breaks of course!

You must be able to bend, lift, reach, and stand on a step stool to retrieve stored items and packaging

Must be able to walk up and down stairs frequently, while carrying up to 25 lbs, in order to access basement backstock area

The role necessitates working in a loud environment with frequent interruptions and changing of tasks.

This position requires lifting, carrying, and placing items up to 25 pounds regularly, and 50 pounds occasionally, including up and down stairs.

Comfortable operating and maneuvering in a tight environment in close quarters with other co-workers and customers, including narrow passageways and navigating a very busy cafe.
