Nexus-Indian Oaks is seeking a Food Service Assistant with a passion for food and experience preparing and serving meals for residents and special events, keeping kitchen areas clean, assisting with menu planning, supporting inventory, and food safety standards.

Position Summary: Partner with the food service team in preparing and delivering balanced meals to residents while following food and safety guidelines. You will provide oversight and occasional direction to the Food Service Staff while performing food receiving, inventory, and maintenance, and contributing to a safe and compliant food service environment.
Pay Rate: $18.50 per hour
Shift: Full-Time weekdays and some weekends 6:00 am-2:30 pm

Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve food and beverages for daily resident meals and snacks, as well as for other Nexus Indian Oaks events.
- Maintain sanitation of all areas and supplies involved with food storage, preparation and service.
- Wash, maintain and store dishes, utensils, cooking/baking equipment, supplies, etc.
- Ensure proper disposal of food and garbage processing.
- Assist in inventory receiving, stocking and maintenance
- Assist with daily meal menu planning in compliance with all nutritional and regulatory standards and requirements.
- Assist with coordinating menus of food and beverage items for special events, meetings, or other gatherings sponsored by the Nexus Indian Oaks.
- Maintain accurate and timely records on meal counts, food usages, etc., as directed.
- Ensure confidentiality regarding resident issues, background and treatment; comply with Nexus policies involving privacy and confidentiality rules for residents and their families.
Required Education and Licensure:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Certificate in Food Handling
- Valid driver’s license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Nexus Home Office driving requirements
Preferred Education and Experience:
- 1 year of food service/custodial experience
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted and 50 pounds with assistance.
- Must be able to perform repetitive motion tasks with hands and wrists.
- Must be able to bend, reach, twist and turn in a manner conducive to a large cafeteria/cooking environment
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop and/or laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones.
