NEW Solutions connects experienced workers(ages 55+) with the USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS). These experiencedprofessionals provide administrative, scientific, and technical support to theAgricultural Research Service through the Experienced Worker Program (EWP).

Qualifications:

Minimum of 1 year(s) of experience in landscaping or facility maintenance. OR AADegree in Any

Experience operating lawnmowers and other landscaping equipment.Experience required with WindowsDuties:

The position is located in the facilities group and is responsible forperforming the full range of activities involved in the CGAHR campus maintenanceand landscaping. These functions will include maintaining the various groundsareas and storm drainage systems. This includes lawn care, landscaping,fertilization and overall groundskeeping. Minimum of 2 years of experience isrequired. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: May require lifting of items up to 25 lbs. Needto be able to kneel and bend to maintain landscape. Need to be able to operatemechanical equipment.

Operates lawnmowers, landscape support vehicles, and snow removal equipment.Equipment operated include mowers, aerators, plows, harrows, chippers, sprayers,post hole diggers, front-end loading devices, tractors with towed or attachmentequipment, movable dozer blades, moldboard plows, post hole augers, power rakes,power brooms, over-seeders, and backhoes. 60%Prunes and trims shrubs, trees, and other plants as required and to obtain aproper balance between roots and top growth. 15%Maintains, repairs or constructs a variety of structures and surfaces ofbrick, block, stone and other related materials. 10%Removes snow using shovels and/or snow removal machines. 10%Operates pickup trucks, panel trucks, flatbed trucks and other vehicles(weight up to 10,000 pounds) to tow and carry equipment, lawn materials andsupplies, etc. 5%

Other:Will need to complete ARS and CGAHR specific safety training, and trainingon safe operations of lawnmowers, snowblowers, and other landscape andfacilities maintenance equipment. Training will be provided as necessary by theagency.Health and Safety Considerations: Will need to complete ARS and CGAHRspecific safety training, and training on safe operations of lawnmowers,snowblowers, and other landscape and facilities maintenance equipment.
