Job Description

Job Objective: Performs general custodial duties; drive a daily school bus shuttle route; drive daily school van routes and our as route back up as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED. Job skills verified by training and/or work experience.

Available to work a non-traditional schedule and irregular hours when required.

Displays flexibility, reliability, self-discipline, and a willingness to take on challenging tasks.

Documents/maintains a record free of criminal violations prohibiting public school employment.

Effective communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.

Embodies high ethical standards/integrity. Accepts responsibility for personal decisions/conduct.

Meets all school bus driver personnel qualifications and training program requirements described the Ohio Administrative Code 3301-83-06 and 3301-83-10. Meets all prerequisite requirements to be covered by the service center and/or district vehicle insurance polices.

Physical Demands: Duties require lifting/moving materials weighing up to fifty pounds, operating power equipment, using hand tools, and working from ladders, scaffolds, or mechanical lifts.

Note: Employees must obtain training (bus driver and van driver certification) and maintain skills to fulfill compliance requirements applicable to the position as required by board policy and state/federal law.

Essential Functions:

1. Uses technical/manual skills to maintain the appearance and cleanliness of service center property. Check the daily schedule to determine if an activity requires preparation or cleanup.

Requests timely replacement of supplies to avoid work interruptions.

Helps with the receipt of deliveries. Inspects packages. Verifies contents with packing lists.

Cleans assigned areas. Dry mop/wash floors. Cleans furniture, fixtures, walls and windows.

Provides regular/orderly removal of trash. Moves furnishings, supplies, and equipment as directed.

Cleans lockers. Replace light bulbs. Cleans, sanitizes, and re-supplies toilet rooms. Cleans glass, display cases, etc. Cleans/sanitizes handrails, drinking fountains, etc. Vacuums carpets. Spot cleans stains. Cleans carpets, floor mats, and runners. Strips, waxes, and buffs tile floors.

Makes minor repairs when qualified by training and/or work experience.

Complies with Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) information. Seeks advice when uncertain about product use, storage, or disposal procedures. Follows health and safety regulations to clean up blood, body fluids/tissue, chemical spills, hazardous materials, mold, etc.

Reports substandard conditions that may affect building operations (i.e., electrical/mechanical equipment, heat, lights, plumbing, structural components, ventilation, water leaks, etc.).

Clears snow/ice from walkways and entrances. Assists with snow removal operations as directed.

Monitors building security. Assists community groups as directed. Directs visitors to the office.

Protects program property. Implements procedures to prevent the loss of supplies/equipment.

2. Exemplifies professionalism to enhance NwOESC and member district public images.

Diligently attends to job details. Pursues quality work results. Performs all aspects of the job.

Develops mutually respectful relationships with co-workers. Functions as part of a cohesive team.

Maintains an acceptable attendance record. Provides prompt notice of delays or absences.

LOCATION: Independence Education Center, 06950 Independence Road, Defiance, OH

CONTRACT: Per the 2025-26 school calendar and beyond; full-time/year round position

SALARY: Per the adopted salary schedule based on training and experience
