Medical Receptionist - General Surgery

Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: Position Purpose: Business Services Representative - General Surgery - Key front-desk role in a busy General Surgery practice, responsible for creating a smooth and welcoming experience for every patient. Handles appointment scheduling, insurance verification, copay collections, referrals, prior authorizations, and patient registration. Supports providers with chart prep, incoming and outgoing communications, and maintaining accurate records. A great fit for someone who is organized, personable, and thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. What you will do: Greets and communicates with patients via phone or in person in a courteous and professional manner identifying themselves and their department. Answers telephones in a timely, courteous, and professional manner utilizing appropriate scripting. Processes calls to ensure patients are transferred to the appropriate staff member/provider in a timely manner. Schedules patient appointments based on department protocols in order to maximize provider productivity. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent Experience within a medical office or billing department preferred. Knowledge of patient billing and medical terminology preferred Excellent keyboard skills. Requires proficiency in a Windows based computer environment and Microsoft Office products.
