Cook Job Description Prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions to meet production, delivery, and service schedules. Serve meals or prepare for delivery using correct portioning, ensuring that food is at the correct temperature, is attractive, and tasty. Taste all prepared food items and utilize established ticket collection procedures during service. Maintain records from the area worked during service periods, clean the kitchen after preparation and serving, and store or discard excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures. Responsibilities Prepare high-quality food items according to standardized recipes and instructions. Serve meals or prepare for delivery using correct portioning. Taste all prepared food items to ensure quality. Utilize established ticket collection procedures during service. Maintain records from the area worked during service periods. Clean kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness. Store or discard excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures. Keep refrigerators and storerooms clean and neat, ensuring food and supply items are stored per standards. Operate and maintain kitchen equipment as instructed. Assist in production planning, record keeping, and reporting as required. Assist in ordering and receiving all food and supplies as required. Report needed maintenance, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor. Maintain good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers. Perform job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment. Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Skills Foodservice Line cook experience Food preparation Cooking Chef skills Hospitality knowledge Grill cook expertise Additional Skills & Qualifications Pass the qualification exam with 75% or higher. 3-5 years of cooking experience in a high-volume restaurant or facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Washington, District of Columbia. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.50/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
