Job Description:
The Oakridge School District is looking for a (Temporary) part-time landscape worker/groundskeeper.
Position Summary:
The primary purpose of this position is to assist with landscaping and grounds in conjunction with the Facilities Manager through the summer months. This position is for the period of July 1, 2025 - approximately August 22, 2025.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Background and Criminal History Clearance.
- Valid Oregon Driver’s License and evidence of insurability.
- Demonstrated knowledge of application, storage, and safe use of chemicals and pesticides.
- Ability to operate various power tools and equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Essential Functions:
- Support Facilities Manager in the care of all lawn areas including athletic fields by watering, mowing and fertilizing.
- Provides care for hedges, shrubs, trees, including pruning, trimming, disease and pest control, plant seeds, bulbs and annuals as needed and provides care for them throughout the year.
- Installs and repairs fences.
- Assists with snow and ice removal, if any, from sidewalks, entryways and driveways and spreads sand, salt or ashes to prevent slipping.
- Responds to any grounds related emergency that arises as requested.
- Works harmoniously with others and communicates effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, and staff.
- Duties involve hand-eye and foot coordination, in carrying, positioning, grasping, and operating a variety of hand and power tools.
- Drives District vehicles, including large and small mowers, tractors, and spray rigs with or without trailers.
Other Requirements:
- Possible exposure to bodily fluids due to employee illness or injury.
- Work is performed primarily in outdoor locations on school and district grounds.
- Extreme variations in weather conditions and temperature can occur.
- Occasionally performs other duties as required by supervisor.
Workplace Expectations:
Employee has regular attendance at work, is punctual and follows schedules.
Employee follows all District or supervisor policies, rules, regulations, announcements, applicable position descriptions and reasonable requests by Supervisor.
Terms of Employment:
Part-time Temporary. Salary and benefits based on the current District Classified Salary.
