Job Summary: Serves as substitute in the school kitchen as needed providing duties engaged in food operations at the school. The work assists toward the accomplishment of the mission of the Woodland Public Schools of preparing students for career, life, and college so that they can become a responsible and successful citizen. Work is performed under the direction of the Head Cook, the Food Service Manager and Executive Director of Business Services.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Working knowledge of food preparation practices
- Ability to work around children and present a positive role model
- Ability to effectively communicate with students, staff, and visitors to the district
- Regular and punctual attendance
- Experience working in an institutional or restaurant kitchen
- Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds to stove level
- Physically able to bend and stoop
- Valid Food Handlers Card issued in the state of Washington
- One year of job-related experience working with students in an educational setting preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisors, and to coordinate work with others
- Ability to describe orally or in writing cleaning, maintenance or repair problems as needed
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and others
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure pertinent to the job
- Ability to work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow
