Summary Statement The incumbent in this position provides grounds keeping services and routine maintenance work of equipment on the Herman Holloway Campus. Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class.   • Performs routine maintenance of lawn, flowers, shrubs, and trees involving planting, fertilizing, transplanting, irrigating, weeding, mulching, pruning, mowing, edging, and trimming.
  • Applies pesticides and herbicides safely and responsibly when needed in accordance with all relevant health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Performs seasonal care such as planting in the spring or leaf removal in the fall.
  • Maintains driveways, steps, and walkways by removing snow or ice, trash and debris, and may assist in grading and repair.
  • Operates and maintains a variety of equipment and hand tools including mowers, tractors, saws, sprayers, blowers, edgers, grass shears, and trimmers.
  • Collaborates with maintenance team members on larger projects.
  • Assists in the preparation and cleanup for outdoor events.
  • May perform minor repairs on outdoor structures such as fences, gates, and walkways and assist trades personnel in painting and other minor repairs as required.
  • Communicates and interacts effectively with people across cultures, ranges of ability, genders, ethnicities, ages, and races.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Groundskeeper I
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Knowledge of operating groundskeeping or landscaping equipment such as mowers, tractors, saws, sprayers, pruners, edgers, grass shears and trimmers.

This position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization) that has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other applicable terms and conditions of employment, in accordance with Title 29, Chapter 59 and Title 19, Chapter 13 and 16. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms.
