**Primary Function**

The Laundry Aides is responsible for the care and laundering of linens and residents personal clothing.

**Job Description**

- Follows established policies and procedures of the Housekeeping Department.

- Understands how to safely operate the washers, dryers and pressing machines.

- Understands and correctly utilizes the laundry codes when using the washers and dryers.

- Reports any machine malfunction to Housekeeping Supervisor as soon as possible. Shuts down machine immediately and make co-workers aware.

- Folds and stacks laundry and linen.

- Delivers laundry and linen as directed.

- Soaks, washes and dries soiled laundry and linen.

- Picks up laundry and linen at central points in the facility.

- Uses supplies and equipment according to directions.

- Follows duties and work assignments.

- Follows safety rules and regulations, reports accidents and/or incidents to the Housekeeping Supervisor immediately.

- Attends staff meetings and completes required training as assigned.

- Requisitions supplies as needed.

- Understands the purpose and use of emergency equipment. Utilizes emergency equipment.

- Maintains confidentiality.

- Utilizes safety standards and maintains a safe environment.

- Remains cordial and tactful with residents, peers and others.

- Completes other assigned duties as may be necessary for the orderly operation of the facility.

**Education/Experience/Minimum Qualifications**

- Ability to read or write sufficiently to perform duties

.

- Experience in laundry service preferred.

**Mental/Visual/Physical Environment**

- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 10 pounds on a regular basis.

- Exposure to cleaning solvents and chemicals.

Consistently demonstrates superior customer service skills to patients/customers by demonstrating characteristics that align with CIHAs guiding principles and core values. Ensure excellent customer service is provided to all patients/customers by seeking out opportunities to be of service.
