Your day to day as a Cook

As a Cook at The Resource Connection of Amador & Calaveras Counties, Inc., you will play a vital role in creating nourishing and appealing meals for our Angels Camp sites, under the guidance of the Lead Cook or Site Supervisor. Your commitment to safety and quality will ensure that all food provided meets the requirements of the USDA Child Care Food Program. You'll follow strict safety precautions for food handling and storage to prevent contamination and choking hazards. Additionally, you'll be responsible for delivering and storing food, along with kitchen and cleaning supplies.

Maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment is paramount; you will adhere to our Daily, Weekly, and Periodic Cleaning Schedule while safely handling chemicals and equipment. Your attention to detail will contribute to the overall well-being of those we serve. Join us in this rewarding position where your culinary skills truly make a difference!

What we're looking for in a Cook

To excel as a Cook at The Resource Connection of Amador & Calaveras Counties, Inc., you'll need a blend of practical experience and essential skills. A High School Diploma or equivalent is required, along with a minimum of one year in food service. Possession of a ServSafe Certification is preferred at the time of hiring and must be obtained within six months. Understanding food temperatures and preventing cross-contamination is critical for ensuring safety and compliance with health regulations. Basic computer skills are necessary for managing kitchen inventory and documentation.

A valid California Driver's License, current automobile insurance, and criminal background clearance are also essential. Physical requirements include passing a physical examination and having up-to-date immunizations as mandated by Community Care Licensing. Flexibility is important, as the role may involve working irregular hours, attending evening meetings, and traveling as needed.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

• High School Diploma or equivalency
• Minimum one-year of food service experience required
• ServSafe Certification preferred at time of hiring. Required within 6 months from date of hire
• Basic computer skills/ experience
• Knowledge of required food temperatures and preventing cross contamination of foods
• Valid California Driver's License and proof of current automobile insurance coverage
• Criminal background clearance as required by licensing agency
• Physical Examination
• proof of current negative TB test
• immunizations as required by Community Care Licensing and current influenza shot
• Willingness to attend night meetings and trainings as necessary
