Chenango County's Preston Manor Home for Adults has an opening for a part-time COOK. This position exists at the

Preston Manor Home for Adults operated by the Chenango County Department of Social Services, in the Chenango

County Sheriffs Office, and in various school districts within the County. An employee in this class is responsible for

preparing, cooking and serving a variety of meals and snacks for residents, inmates or students. Incumbents also clean

and maintain kitchen and dining room or cafeteria areas and equipment in a safe and sanitary manner. Work is

performed under the general supervision of a higher level staff member in accordance with well established routines

and procedures. Supervision over the work of others is not normally a requirement of an employee in this class. Does

related work as required.<p>

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One year of full-time paid cooking or baking experience or its part-time equivalent.

Special Requirements for a Cook at the Preston Manor Home for Adults:<li>At time of appointment and continuing throughout appointment, a

candidate/incumbent must possess a valid New York State Drivers License and a driving record acceptable to the Countys insurance carrier.

<li>Prior to employment and annually thereafter a candidate/incumbent will be required to satisfactorily undergo a physical examination, and a

Mantoux test (PPD) or chest x-ray unless the Mantoux test or chest x-ray are contraindicated by a physician. <li> 3. In accordance with Section

461-t of the Social Services Law candidates who are actively being considered for employment will be required to undergo a Criminal History

Record Check (CHRC) utilizing the procedures and standards set forth in Article 28-E of the Public Health Law to determine suitability for

employment. <li> 4. In accordance with Section 495 of the Social Services Law candidates who are actively being considered for employment will

be required to consent to all pre-employment screening requirements established by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with

Special Needs to determine suitability for employment. This will include, but may not be limited to, a check of the Vulnerable Persons Central

Register.<p>

The position has a 40 hour work week and 2024 starting pay rate is $17.42 per hour and includes a full benefits package.<p>
