Salary Range $15.12 - $24.62 per hour

SUMMARY: To keep the district buildings in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program. Performs assigned custodial duties and repairs and receives supervision from the Building Administrator and Assist Superintendent of Student Services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other duties may be assigned.

  • Cleans and preserves designated spaces, equipment, etc., in the building and follows daily checklist.
  • Cleans classrooms, offices, libraries, restrooms, and common areas, including but not necessarily limited to whiteboards, dusting, emptying trash receptacles, vacuuming, and washing windows.
  • Scrubs, mops, disinfects, and polishes hard-surfaced floors in restrooms, cafeteria, hallways, classrooms, etc., as required.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs.
  • Immediately reports any vandalism or other damage to school property to her/her supervisor.
  • Assumes responsibility for the security of the building - all doors and windows locked and lights turned off as needed before leaving the building for the night.
  • Maintains an inventory of supplies and equipment and informs the lead custodian or administration of needs in advance so s not to hinder the continued performance of building custodial duties.
  • Receives permission from building administration to work 40+ hours a week.
  • Performs minor plumbing, electrical, painting, and minor repairs in buildings.
  • Moves furniture and equipment and assists in special event presentations.
  • Corrects minor safety hazards when observed and/or immediately refers major safety hazards to administration.
  • Maintains confidentiality, unquestionable integrity.
  • Maintains regular attendance and complies with State Law and District policies and regulations.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience and training as necessary to complete job.
  • Minimum of one-year successful prior experience in custodial work (preferred).

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, students, staff, and the general public consistent with the duties of this position.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists consistent with the duties of this position.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form consistent with the duties of this position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to accurately perform assigned tasks.
  • Ability to perform duties in full compliance with district requirements and School Board Policies.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and sit.
