DESCRIPTION
Skip-a-Long Childhood Centers, part of SAL Community Services, is the Quad Cities areas leading provider of early childhood care and education. We provide a safe, secure and supportive environment centered on how playing can charge the mind of the children we care for.

The Assistant Cook assists the Cook and provides daily meals to children attending Skip-a-Long Child Development Center working from menus or instructions to perform day-to-day operations involved in serving of meals and snacks and coordinates menus and various cooking assignments. This means youll do things like:
  • Prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks for children and staff;
  • Operate standard cooking equipment and utensils;
  • Participate in the cleaning of kitchen area; and,
  • Purchases foods and plans menus in accordance with CACFP guidelines

A full list of benefits is available on our website. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A full list of job responsibilities will be provided prior to an interview. This position must obtain required background clearances. Requests for reasonable accommodation as required under applicable law will be considered. Education and Experience Required: High School Diploma. At least one year of previous experience cooking for large groups of 100+. Preferred: Previous experience working with the Child and Adult Care Food Program. Active Food Service Sanitary license.
