Shop Janitor

The Shop Janitor is responsible for keeping the building in

a clean and orderly condition. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: - Clean building

floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming daily and as

needed - Service and clean all restrooms - Dust walls, machines and

equipment - Clean windows - Follow procedures for the use of chemical

cleaners and power equipment - Requisition supplies and equipment needed

for cleaning and grounds and building maintenance as necessary - Remove

snow from walkways using snow shovels and spread snow melting

chemicals - Liaise with supervisor on problems to achieve efficient

repair - Identify abnormalities and repairs required within the building

and advise the supervisors accordingly - Identify areas of process

improvement, cost and waste reduction - Work in an efficient and timely

manner - Undertake relevant training and development as required - Carry

out duties within a realistic time line ensuring that deadlines are

met - Maintain cooperative working relationship and demonstrate

sensitivity to and respect for a diverse population ADDITIONAL JOB

FUNCTIONS: - Move heavy furniture, equipment and supplies either

manually or by using hand trucks - Set up, arrange, and remove

decorations, tables, chairs and trash receptacles to prepare facilities

for company events and meetings - Adhere to and carry out existing work

practices, procedures and policies - Maintain confidentiality and

observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate -

Understand and comply with safety and environmental policies - Other

duties as assigned EXPERIENCE: - Fork lift experience preferred -

Experience cleaning industrial/commercial buildings required EDUCATION:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent CERTIFICATIONS: - Ability to

become forklift certified - Valid driver\'s license KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS &

ABILITIES: - Must be meticulous in attention to detail - Ability to work

independently in the absence of supervision - Excellent listening

skills - Take and understand measurements - Ability to follow

directions - Ability to maintain focus - Meet deadlines - Basic math

skills (add, subtract, divide and multiply) - Basic reading abilities -

Ability to write legibly - Follow safety and materials policies and

procedures PHYSICAL DEMANDS: - Must be able to pass physical exam -

Ability to lift a minimum of 70 lbs. - Ability to exert maximum force to

pull and carry objects. - Ability to sit, stand, bend, squat and kneel -

Vision a minimum 20/40 with or without corrective lenses - Good hearing
