Ready to make an impact in a supportive and team environment? The Banquet Captain is responsible for the oversight and execution of catered functions; including service, food preparation, equipment use and food safety practices.

For more information about working at the University of Arizona and relocations services, please click here Duties & Responsibilities- Oversee and assist with the setup, service and breakdown of events, ensuring that all aspects run smoothly.
- Greets and welcome guests, assist with seating and food service.
- Responsible for assisting with the set-up, service and clean-up of all assigned banquet functions; sometimes multiple events in a day.
- Coordinates orders and table service.
- Serve food and beverages to guests efficiently, ensuring proper presentations and timing.
- Works collaboratively with the Event Planning team to ensure exceptional customer service.
- Address any unexpected changes such as; increase in attendees, changes in dietary restrictions and staffing adjustments.
- Acts as a point of contact for the client and/or host.
- Address and resolve client complaints.
- Anticipate potential issues during events and proactively resolve them.
- Assists in the training and mentoring of food service staff.
- Monitor and maintain banquet supplies.
- Ensure all supplies are in good working condition before each event and request replacements as necessary.
- Ensures safe handling of food and sanitation of equipment.
- Handles customer complaints promptly and work to find a resolution.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of customer service, catering operations and safe food service practices
- Ability to effectively communicate effectively
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to move/transport up to 50lbs
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Experience with high volume off-site catering in a University setting.
