Houseperson - Hotel San Luis Obispo

The Houseperson works with the Housekeeping Management Team to assist Room Attendants by collecting dirty linens and transporting them to the laundry area, delivering clean linens and other items to Room Attendant carts, and retrieving trash throughout the hotel. The houseperson also performs daily cleaning of interior and exterior public spaces, including periodic deep cleaning tasks. The houseperson delivers amenities and requested items to guests, cleaning guest rooms when specially requested by guests. The houseperson will be assigned special projects by the Housekeeping Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following; Other duties may be assigned.

Works with the Housekeeping Management Team to assist Room Attendants by collecting dirty linens, transporting them to the laundry area, delivering clean linens to Room Attendant carts, and retrieving trash throughout the hotel.
Performs daily cleaning of interior and exterior public spaces. Assists with the commercial laundry function.
Assists Room Attendants with heavy items such as mattresses and linens.
Maintains the cleanliness and organization of floor closets and corridors to include removing trash, wiping down shelves/counters; sweeping, mopping and/or vacuuming floors; and removing non-floor closet items and storing them in appropriate areas.
Responds to guests requests in a timely and efficient manner.
Cleans other designated areas such as public restrooms, storage rooms, and other public area spaces.
Reports needed repairs or unsafe conditions to supervisor.
Minimizes waste of supplies and amenities within all areas of housekeeping.
Delivers lost and found items according to established procedures.
Assists with deep cleaning projects and other special projects assigned by the Housekeeping Manager.
Operates washers and dryers according to hotel standards and manufacturers guidelines.
Receives soiled linens and inspect for damaged or stained items.
Folds and stores clean linens, report damages to supervisor.
Promotes teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other shifts and departmental management.
Ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws regarding health and safety services.
Completes all stocking and organizational duties, including but not limited to, stocking guest supplies, cleaning supplies, and linen for housekeeping cart set-up.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Experience and/or Education
Six months related experience working in a hotel or customer service role.

Preferred Training
Previous Houseperson or Room Attendant experience

Pre-Requisites
Authorized to work in the U.S.
Minimum 18 years of age
Weekend and holiday availability

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Job Type: Part-Time, hourly
Compensation: $18.00 per hour
Hours: 16 - 24 hours per week; must have weekend and holiday availability

The budgeted hourly rate that Hotel San Luis Obispo reasonably expects to pay for this position is $18.00 per hour. Rate of pay offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of consistent pay practices at the hotel.

Occasional outdoor exposure including direct sunlight, heat or cold.
The temperature can be very warm, and the employee should expect exposure to temperatures ranging as high as 68 to 76 degrees Fahrenheit and wet or humid conditions while working in the laundry room.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The work environment is characteristic of an urban hotel atmosphere.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to commercial cleaning chemicals.

The employee must be able to work in various climate conditions. The employee must regularly lift and/or carry up to 100 pounds. Must be able to push and pull 75 pounds regularly. Requires full range of motion. Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
