Position: Head Custodian /Grounds Maintenance District Wide FLOAT position
Schedule: 52 week position, 8 hours a day;
6:00am-3:00pm w/ 1hr break or 6:00am-2:30pm w/ 30m break
Salary: Based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement
Reports to: Director of Maintenance and Transportation &/or Administrator
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent
Ability to pass Head Custodial test offered at Orchard View
Successful completion of federal and state criminal background checks
Job Description:
Head Custodians employees shall be directly responsible for the building operations consisting of cleaning the buildings, plumbing, electrical, heating, cooling, ventilations and the general supervision and maintenance of all equipment in the building and on the grounds. He/She shall be responsible for such repairs as can be made within the building and about the grounds that do not require a specific license. Personnel will notify the director if an additional skilled or licensed person is needed. (**Internal expertise will be utilized first). This group is responsible for mowing, shoveling, plowing and the weekend building checks. As well as the repair and maintenance of all the equipment associated with the grounds and maintenance equipment. Additional job responsibilities assigned by the Director of Maintenance.
Recommended Skills:
Ability to handle maintenance (both major and minor) with a secondary duty of general cleaning.
Have working knowledge of and demonstrated ability to satisfactorily make minor repairs and adjustments necessary to maintain plumbing, electrical, heating, cooling and ventilation.
Responsible for keeping the buildings and equipment in good working condition.
Preparation of athletic fields and general upkeep of the grounds.
Snow removal, prune trees & shrubs and pesticide application.
Ability to operate a computer, maintain inventory and follow purchasing guidelines.
Lead-safe practices are position specific.
Operations & maintenance of irrigation systems and operation of fork lift.
Carpentry skills, maintenance of mowers, weed whackers, blowers, etc. are recommended.
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
Good communication and a positive attitude
