Responsible for the work/activities of assigned custodians by assigning tasks and inspecting work. Manages complaints regarding custodial services and takes necessary action. Performs custodial work and maintains buildings in a clean and orderly condition. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may be assigned)Oversees the work of assigned custodians and responsible for the daily custodial operations in assigned locations.Assigns tasks and coordinates schedules of custodial crew for general maintenance, cleaning, and organizing building needs for special events. Uses technology resources to review daily needs and to prepare necessary building and equipment setups.Supports building custodians to achieve expectations and complete daily work schedules by providing access to training and recommending work improvements to the District Custodial Supervisor. May provide skill-training to custodial staff as required.Ensures custodial staff complete annual mandatory compliance training, including but not limited to, asbestos training.Ensures the neat and clean appearance of the building at all times. Conducts periodic building walk-throughs using prescribed checklists to evaluate quality of building cleanliness.Performs annual written evaluations for custodial staff. Provides periodic feedback and recommends corrective action to the District Custodial Supervisor as needed.Reports all relevant problems associated with the building to the Principal and the District Custodial Supervisor.Ensures that established protocols for annual building openings and closings are met.Coordinates with others, as necessary, to prepare facilities for routine school board meetings.Maintains equipment and supply inventories and supports the Districts commitment to green clean chemicals.Maintains the building recycle, trash and compost protocols and ensures compliance with local ordinances.Coordinates with summer school, camps, and outside groups to coordinate work schedules and access for assigned school.Organizes and schedules summer cleaning duties, ensuring completion of duties prior to the start of school.Assists in building security and student safety by:Serving on the District and/or building Crisis Teams.Assisting with fire drills and lock-downs.Performing all emergency shut offs (gas, electric and water) as required.Coordinating with the Director of Facilities on the issuance and collection of building keys.Assisting approved outside contractors with access to building locations when required. Maintaining direct communication with supervisor; answers phone calls and responds to special requests in a timely manner.Serving as building contact for any emergency situations.Performs custodial and building responsibilities as assigned by District Custodial Supervisor.Provides first-level preventative, general equipment, and building maintenance.Operates and maintains the cleaning equipment, including but not limited to: auto scrubber, wet/dry vacuums, buffing machines, and carpet extractors. Responsible for weekly maintenance of all equipment.Routinely cleans and maintains assigned sections of the building and organizes a team cleaning process.Restocks disposable supplies.Handles chemicals, cleaning solutions, and power equipment in accordance with product specifications and with all safety rules and regulations in mind. Disposes of hazardous wastes in an appropriate manner.Performs seasonal grounds work. Maintains exterior areas of buildings by mowing, trimming, raking, and picking up debris. Also clears snow and ice from entrances, walkways, driveway, parking lot, and roof.Participates in job related training, instructions, and activities.Performs other duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises assigned support staff in accordance with management directives and the District's policies and applicable laws. Assigned responsibilities may include interviewing, hire recommendations, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems. Ensures that work is performed in a safe and responsible way at all times. Presents a neat, clean, and appropriately dressed manner. The ability to work in a collaborative team environment is essential to the employee's successful job performance. Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule.Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Knowledge of cleaning protocols, chemical use, and related machinery preferred. Demonstrated ability to lead or supervisory experience preferred. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to clearly and concisely communicate in written and oral fashion.Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply basic math skills such as adding and subtraction of two-digit numbers or more and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and School Board policies. Must be able to keep high levels of confidentiality in all aspects of job performance.
