Gallery Host

The Gallery Host plays an important role in the visitor experience at the North Carolina Museum of Art, Winston-Salem. They welcome guests into the gallery spaces, keep visitors and art objects safe, provide information and assistance when requested, and participate in exhibition-related programming. Reporting to the Director of Programs and Audience Engagement, the Gallery Host receives training in exhibition content, front-of-house procedures, retail, event setup and breakdown, program delivery, and safety and security protocols.

Responsibilities

Gain considerable knowledge of services, policies, procedures, and information systems related to a program or area of specialization.

Demonstrate and apply this knowledge in the performance of administrative tasks; explain and interpret information to visitors/customers and staff.

Compile, assimilate, and organize both printed and electronic information; apply knowledge of data collection, storage, organization, and manipulation, and/or analyze data.

Identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities and use effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions.

Clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups.

High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Ability to present ideas clearly and effectively in written form; ability to adjust language or terminology to meet the needs of the audience; ability to use correct grammar, organization, and structure

Ability to utilize office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet organizational needs
