Note: Work hours for this position will be from 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. May need to work occasional shifts outside of the regular shift to meet the needs of the department. Successful candidate must be able to follow verbal communications and be able to read and comprehend written directions. Also, must be able to interpret written directives, policies, and memos. An essential function of this position requires exertion of up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects (i.e. lifting trash, pushing cleaning equipment, moving furniture, etc.). It also requires constant or frequent climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling and reaching. You must be able to perform this level of physical exertion and essential functions in order to be considered for this position.

*Shift Differentials will be paid to Employees in eligible classes as published in the States annual pay plan.

+ Regular rate applies when work hours fall between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (no shift differential).

+ Second shift differential rate (7.5%) applies when half or more of the scheduled work hours fall between 4:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.

+ Third shift differential rate (14%) applies when half or more of the scheduled work hours fall between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

+ Weekend differential rate (20%) applies when more than half of the scheduled shift hours fall on a weekend shift. Weekend shifts start at 4:00 pm Friday through 6:00 am Monday

Description of Job

JOB DUTIES: Position is located in the Facilities Department at Community College of Aurora, CentreTech Campus. Primary duties and responsibilities include: cleaning of interior and exterior facilities to include restrooms, offices, conference spaces, furnishings, public lounges, food service areas, landing, stairwells, elevators and corridors. Position will also pick up and remove trash from all interior building areas, pick up and remove trash from outdoor trash receptacles. Clean and sanitize restroom floors, sinks, counters, mirrors, wall, partitions, and toilets; clean and shine all stainless steel including drinking fountains; replenish paper towels, toilet paper and soap in dispensers. Vacuum, sweep, wet-mop or dry-mop all public areas. Set-up, reorganize and/or remove furniture in areas as instructed on a work order or by supervisor. Operate campus vehicles for transporting cleaning supplies and equipment from building to building. Shampoo carpets, buff tile floors using scrubbing and buffing machines, strip and wax hard surface floors, clean light fixtures and light switch plates, wash windows and walls, shampoo upholstery. Coordinate, assign, monitor, inspect and assist staff in non-routine cleaning or maintenance projects. Provide security services by maintaining awareness and locking doors after completing tasks. Perform minor maintenance and repairs, and assist the maintenance crew as required. Assist with snow and ice removal when necessary. Set up and take down tables, chairs, tents, and other items for events, meetings, and campus functions. Use a personal computer to respond to email, complete work orders, complete leave requests and timesheets, etc. Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience Only:

Six (6) months of custodial experience as the primary function of the job. Must have excellent customer service skills in order to work with internal and external customers. Must be able to perform strenuous physical labor. Explain use and care of equipment used in detail on your application. Do not use "see resume" statements in application. Your application must be completed in detail, showing relevant experience in order to be considered. Part time experience will be prorated.

Substitutions: None

Conditions of Employment: Must possess and maintain a valid State of Colorado driver's license to independently drive company vehicles and equipment around the campus, pick up parts, etc. Must submit to and successfully complete a pre-employment background check to include a motor vehicle report (MVR) as a condition of hire. Felony convictions or conviction of crimes of moral turpitude or convictions of misdemeanors related to job duties may disqualify you from consideration for this position. Should your background check reveal any charges and convictions, it is your responsibility to provide CCA Office of Human Resources with an official disposition of the charges. An essential function of this position requires the individual to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Highly Desirable: Excellent customer service skills. Knowledge/experience in proper methods to strip and re-wax hard surface flooring. Knowledge of custodial chemicals and their use. Proper sanitation procedures for restrooms. Experience in hard floor and carpet maintenance. Experience operating floor scrubbers, carpet extractors, and floor buffers. Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks. Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to work as a member of a team as well as an individual contributor; self motivated. Prior experience operating a computer. Prior experience utilizing MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
